Christmas in the Desert
December 21, 2018
4:00pm – 8:00pm
This coming Friday evening, 21 December, we will be having a Braai / Barbecue and worship with Christmas carols in the desert starting at 4pm. Everyone will bring their own food and drink and paper goods. You can also bring your own method of cooking, although there will also be a community barbecue. Bring chairs and blankets -- It can get cool in the evenings this time of year. And keep in mind that there are no bathrooms available. The location is about . (Detailed directions are included below.) This will be a great time to invite friends and neighbors who are not yet trusting Jesus.
Here is a GPS to where the following directions begin:
On Abu Dhabi - Sweihan Road there is a fuel station on the right just before a roundabout, which you will go straight over. The gate is 4.6km after the roundabout and there are some flashing lights immediately before you reach it. Don’t miss the turn – it’s a long drive before you can turn around! Go through the gate and turn immediately left on the track and follow it until you go over a bridge. Keep your speed up on the sand. Turn right after the bridge and continue for a couple of kilometres on the track – watch out for rocks. Turn left by the up turned tyre and you’ll see our spot ahead of you. Make your way over the compacted sand and rock.
- PARENTS: Be responsible for your children! There are camels, nasty insects & other desert hazards you need to watch out for.
- Note that 4x4 is not necessary to reach this spot – but keep up your speed on the sandy areas!
- Don’t forget to bring your own food and drinks, blankets, chairs plus cooking equipment.
- Reminder – no bathrooms.
