Steve had been pastoring Mercy Hill Church, a church he had planted in San Jose, California (USA).
In 2014 Steve heard about this church-planting opportunity in Abu Dhabi, and his heart was stirred. As Steve, Jan, and their church leaders prayed, and as the leaders from ECC and the ECC Off-Island Church prayed, God confirmed that this was his call.
Steve and Jan moved to Abu Dhabi in April 2015, and God started calling people to join them in planting a church which would experience Jesus’ grace, love each other, and reach out to others with Jesus’ grace.
Grace Church started meeting as two Home Groups and established a foundation of living by faith in Christ, deep love for each other, and reaching out to the lost. These groups have grown, and multiplied into more Home Groups.
Then on December 18, 2015 we started Friday Worship Gatherings at 10 AM at the Westin Hotel (location here) for Christ-centered worship, and preaching from God’s Word. God has been merciful to us as we’ve met, and many have been strengthened and encouraged.
The UAE government has been gracious to give land to the Anglican Church for a multi-church worship center in Musaffah (location here – it’s called "Future Anglican Church" because the Anglican Church owns the land). We are planning on moving to this location as soon as the construction is completed.
We also meet in Home Groups where we encourage each other, study God’s Word, worship, pray, and talk about how we can help more people come to know God’s grace.
We currently have six Home Groups. The Embassy District Home Group meets Mondays at 6pm; the Mohammed Bin Zayed City Home Group on Tuesdays at 7pm; the Khalifa City Home Group on Tuesdays at 7pm; the Officers’ Club / Grand Mosque Home Group on Wednesdays at 7pm, the Shakhbout City Home Group on Wednesdays at 7pm, and the Youth Home Group on Thursdays at 6pm.
If you would like to visit a home group, email us for more details.
We praise God for the strong Bible-preaching and Jesus-honoring churches God is raising up in Abu Dhabi, are thrilled to be part of what God is doing in this part of the world, and would love to meet you. Feel free to visit, or email with any questions.
For Jesus’ glory —
